Be discrete in giving your business info

I am into surplus auto parts business in Davao. And I am having an exciting time meeting problems, overcoming them, and learning from them. Maybe you could learn, too, from an experience I had.

A few years ago, I was introduced to a Japanese national visiting Davao by a local policeman I was acquainted with. Claiming connection with surplus car suppliers in his country, the Japanese asked me for my requirements in terms of stock. I complied quickly and gladly with a list of car parts with corresponding models. Well, to make a long story short, I have never heard from the man ever since. I realized too late I was merely used by the Japanese to extract information on the car parts market.

What a lesson! One of the hazards of the trade perhaps. But that incident made me more discrete and wary about divulging information without investigating the integrity of the person asking for it.
