Tindahang Pinoy launched to sell best of countryside products

The Tindahang Pinoy project was launched early this month by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to provide a permanent outlet for the selling of top quality local products under the Department’s “One Town, One Product” (OTOP) program.

The Tindahang Pinoy outlets will sell products of various micro, small and medium enterprises nationwide.  These will be run by the private sector, with the DTI providing the suppliers and arranging the logistical requirements through third-party providers.

There are plans to eventually franchise the Tindahang Pinoy brand, under the management of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTTC).

According to DTI Undersecretary Merly Cruz, the top 30 highest sellers in DTI trade fairs will be included in the lineup of products to be sold in the Tindahang Pinoy branches.

Initially, Tindahang Pinoy branches will be opened in Clark Cebu, Davao, and Cash and Carry in Makati.

At the SME Summit held recently at the PTTC, the DTI set up a sample tindahang Pinoy.  Among the products sold there were woven bags and mats, bead accessories, processed and bottled fish products, herbal teas, local coffee and native furniture.

The launch of the project aims to expand market access for micro, small and medium businesses.
