SERDEF to honor most active members in May General Assembly

The SERDEF general membership meeting on Wednesday, May 16, at the UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries, Diliman, Quezon City, will honor the Foundation’s most active and committed members and officers not only in terms of participation in its programs and projects but more importantly for contributions to the broader small enterprise development mission.

The gathering, which will begin at 9:00 a.m., will also make a pitch for the expansion and strengthening of the general membership.  Members of the Foundation will be asked to participate in training, research and advocacy projects as consultants or hands-on executives, share their insights and experiences in running small businesses or promoting them through the SERDEF multi-media information program, and otherwise get involved more pro-actively in programs and projects than in the past.

Members who cannot attend are urged to name their proxies by mail, email, or fax so that they will remain in the active members’ list.

At the meeting, SERDEF President Paterno V. Viloria is expected to present an accomplishment report for the year 2011 while Treasurer Editha A. Reyes will discuss  its financial status.  Executive Director Nestor O. Raneses will also report on operations.

The election of six new members of the Board of Trustees will follow, and from there, the election of a new set of officers for the year 2012-2013 by the new Board.

A symposium on “Accelerating Enterprising Philippines” will be held in the afternoon, featuring Villar Foundation President Cynthia Villar, UP President Alfredo Pascual, and Betis Handicraft owner-founder Myrna Bituin as main speakers.

The symposium will be open not only to members of SERDEF but also to other micro, small and medium entrepreneurs and small business consultants, policy makers, trainers, teachers, advocates, and other service providers.
