The country’s growing attraction as a popular wedding venue not only for Filipino expatriates but other foreign nationals has prompted the local wedding planners and wedding suppliers to plan promotional tours to further promote the holding of weddings in the  Philippines.

The Philippine Association of Wedding Planners (PAWP) are set to hold roadshows this year and participate in expositions in Singapore, the United Arab  Emirates (UAE), Australia, Canada, United States and several countries in Europe.

According to PAWP President Liza Alviedo, there is a big market “out there waiting to be tapped.  It will have to be a step-by-step process, wherein our members and fellow wedding suppliers will eventually maximize their reach.

First stop this year will be the Philippine Wedding Expo in Singapore in July.

“Singapore is a bit different from other countries with a large number of overseas Filipino workers as our countrymen there, as they are working in offices, with some of them holding middle-management  positions or higher.  It is a market with a capacity to spend for their weddings,” Alviedo added,

The goal is to secure at least 150 contracts from the expo.

PAWP has been actively supporting the Department of Tourism’s campaign to make thePhilippines a preferred wedding destination in the world.
