A week left before Small Biz Branding contest closes

Micro and small businesses owners/managers have until August 15 to submit their entry to the Brand Slam for Micro and Small Business contest.

Organized in celebration of Small and Medium Enterprise Month in July, the Brand Slam competition seeks to  highlight the importance of branding in growing a business  and to inspire more entrepreneurs to adopt branding as a marketing strategy.

The contest is open to all micro and small businesses – defined for purposes of the contest as those employing less than 50 workers – in any part of the country that have newly launched or are about to launch a brand name.

At stake are:  P25,000 for the grand prize winner; and P10,000 each of three runner-up winners.

The following are the  contest mechanics:

(1)    To join, a business owner/manager is required to submit the following:

  • A photo or illustration of the actual brand name
  • A photo or illustration of the products and services to which the brand name will be applied
  • A brief discussion of how the brand name came about and how it is expected to contribute to the success of the business.
  • A short history and profile of the business, to include date set up, names) of owner(s)  and milestones in the growth of the business (may be in bullet form).

(2)    The above  requirements should be emailed to serdefbrandslam@gmail.com or sent by postal mail to: BRAND SLAM, Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation. 3rd F, UP ISSI Building, Diliman, Quezon City.

(3)    Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges based on:

  • The general criteria of a good brand: memorable, meaningful, likeable, transferable, adaptable
  • An assessment of how the brand is expected to contribute to the business, as described by the owner.

(4)    The winners will be announced by August 30.  The decision of the judges will be final.
