SERDEF Brand Slam contest extended to August 31

The contest, originally scheduled to close today, will now run until the end of the month, August 31, according to Dr. Herminia R. Fajardo, chairman of the SERDEF Research and Information Committee.  The winners will be announced on September 30.

Small and micro-scale enterprises which has developed or about to launch a brand can join the competition aimed at highlighting the importance of branding to business growth and success.

The contest is open to all micro and small businesses – defined for purposes of the contest as those employing less than 50 workers – in any part of the country that have adopted branding as a marketing strategy.

At stake are:  P25,000 for the grand prize winner; and P10,000 each of three runner-up winners.

The following are the  contest mechanics:

(1)    To join, a business owner/manager is required to submit the following:

  • A photo or illustration of the actual brand name
  • A photo or illustration of the products and services to which the brand name will be applied
  • A brief discussion of how the brand name came about and how it is expected to contribute to the success of the business.
  • A short history and profile of the business, to include date set up, names) of owner(s)  and milestones in the growth of the business (may be in bullet form).

(2)    The above  requirements should be emailed to [email protected] or sent by postal mail to: BRAND SLAM, Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation. 3rd F, UP ISSI Building, Diliman, Quezon City.

(3)    Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges based on:

  • The general criteria of a good brand: memorable, meaningful, likeable, transferable, adaptable
  • An assessment of how the brand is expected to contribute to the business, as described by the owner.

(4)    The decision of the judges will be final.
