The SERDEF formalized agreements with two institutions last September 3 to collaborate on initiatives  for the promotion of entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprise development.

The first  agreement was with the Human Resource Innovations and Solutions, Inc. (HURIS) for the implementation of a seminar entitled “People Strategy for Ensuring Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Business Success,” to be held on October 30.

The seminar is aimed at providing MSME entrepreneurs and managers with know-how and insights on the challenges and opportunities emerging from the upcoming ASEAN economic integration, using human resources as business strategy.

The second was with Esquire Financing, Inc.  for implementing “Fueling the Dream: a Business Model Competition,” open to college students interested in pursuing an entrepreneurial career.

The competition seeks to provide stimulus to young people with entrepreneurial aspirations to develop their business ideas, with cash incentives, mentoring interventions, and equity financing from Esquire up to Php 1 M.

The SERDEF committed to help promote both activities through SERDEF website announcements and other mass media campaigns.

For the business model competition, the SERDEF agreed to disseminate posters and flyers  at strategic places inside the University of the Philippines Campus.  SERDEF will also make available specialists to help mentor competition finalists in improving and finalizing their business model presentations.

At the close of the contest, the Foundation will be represented by Dr. Eduardo Canela, member of its Special Projects Committee, in the judging of the entries and selection of the winner.

Research and Information Committee (RIC) Chair Dr. Herminia Fajardo signed both agreements for the SERDEF.  The other signatories were HURIS special projects manager Maylene Navalta  and Esquire Financing project management associate Byron Raymundo.

Witnessing the signing were  SERDEF president Paterno Viloria and HURIS president Ramon Medina.   Other SERDEF representatives present during the back-to-back signing ceremonies were executive director Nestor Raneses,  technical adviser Serenidad Lavador, finance officer Gloria Canela, media consultant Myrna Co, RIC member Arlene Liberal,  and executive assistant Cassie Teodosio.  Present as well was HURIS HR account associate Krista Uybarreta
