A high-school senior from St. Paul College, Pasig, is the grand prize winner of the SERDEF’s “Small is Beautiful” photo essay contest held last July to October to commemorate “Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Month.”

Stefanie Andrea Miranda, 16, bested other contestants with her entry “Hanapbuhay, the TLC Way.”

Runner-up winners are:

Airah Mariz Caragay, 17, from New Era University  ( “Shine Little Pearl”);

Emerson Catindoy, 19, from Microcadd Institute (“Japs Shoes”);

Donita Camille Cueto, 20, from the National Teachers College (“A Beautiful Small Business”); and

Janina Carly Herrera Buensuceso, 17, from Holy Child Academy (“Eggstraordinary”).

Open to Philippine residents, ages 12 to 22, the contest was held to raise awareness on the importance of small-scale entrepreneurship in building the community and country, help build interest among the youth to consider entrepreneurship as a career option, and pay tribute to small entrepreneurs and their contributions to economic development.

At stake in the contest are a grand prize of P25,000 and runner-up prizes of P10,000 each.

Awarding of prizes will take place tentatively this month at a date to be announced later  at the SERDEF office on the 3rd floor of Virata Hall (ISSI Building), UP Diliman Campus, Quezon City.
