Ph is No. 1 in women leadership survey

A recentbsurvey conducted by Grant Thornton International showed that among 32 countries studied, the Philippines is tops in having the most number of women executives in top leadership positions.

Thornton International’s 2020 Women in Business Report revealed that 43 per cent of Filipino women executives hold senior management positions.

South Africa, Poland and Mexico followed the Philippines in ranking.

The top three roles of  Filipino women executives are those of chief finance officer (CFO), human resources director (HRD) and chief operating officer (COO), the report further said.

The number of Filipino women executives in senior management posts hit 37.5 percent in 2018, up from 40 percent in 2017 and 39 percent in 2016.

The report also showed that businesses are taking more action to increase gender diversity in the workplace with 94 per cent of Filipino firms actively working to remove gender disparity at senior levels. 

Actions taken towards gender equality  include: ensuring equal access to developmental work opportunities, enabling flexible work hours, reviewing recruitment approaches, and providing mentoring and coaching.  Also mentioned is the creation of a top-led inclusive culture within the firm.
