“Tara na, negosyo na” Kapihan to highlight technopreneurship

“Tara na, negosyo na” will still be the battlecry of this year’s Kapihan sa UP ISSI (UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries) on Wednesay, August 3, but with a slant tothe promotion of technology-based enterprises.

The Kapihan, which kicks off this year’s  anniversary celebration of the UP ISSI,  used to be conducted as a one-day appreciation course on entrepreneurship (ACE).  It is addressed to business start-ups and would-be businessmen.

The morning session will consist of the usual basics on entrepreneurship, with modules on what it takes to be an entrepreneur, developing entrepreneurial motivation, generating business ideas, and approaching sources of finance and other assistance.

The afternoon sessions will be heavy with technopreneurship concepts, approaches  and experiences, to be shared by established technopreneurs engaged in online marketing, GPS technology, and other emerging technologies.

In line with the technology thrust of the event, a culminating exercise will be conducted,. adopting  the “World Café”  or “Technopreneurship Café” methodology.

The Kapihan is a joint project between the UP ISSI and its private-sector partner Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation (SERDEF).

A nominal fee of P600 is charged, inclusive of meals, a certificate of attendance and a a copy of the “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” business primer, and a opportunity to register their businesses on the spot through the Philippine Business Registry of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).  (Additional fees may, however, apply for registering the business with DTI, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and Home Development Mutual Fund or PAGIBIG.)
