At the National Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Summit held last month in Davao City, the Department of Trade and Industry batted for the establishment of Negosyo Centers  all over the country to promote local entrepreneurship.

The centers, provided for in the Go Negosyo Act (RA 10644), will facilitate setting up of businesses everywhere,  according to Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo, who spoke during the forum.

The Go Negosyo bill was authored by Benigno “Bam” A. Aquino IV and signed into law last July.  It mandates the DTI to establish Negosyo Centers in all provinces, cities, and municipalities.

The centers are expected to provide a unified and simplified business registration process and facilitate the access of MSMEs to shared service facilities such as equipment, technology transfer, production and marketing assistance as well as management trainings and capacity building programs.

In his own speech Senator Aquino said that the “‘Go Negosyo’ centers will bring the government closer to small businesses.”

He expects the law’s Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) to be in place before the year ends, thus paving the way for the implementation of its provision for the establishment of the Centers.
