SERDEF Trustee and entrepreneurship trainer and advocate Celia R. Pascual passed away on December 27 after a lingering illness. She was 68.

This was announced by SERDEF Trustee and Board Secretary Dr.  Paz H. Diaz.

Dr. Diaz described Ms. Pascual as a “passionate advocate of entrepreneurship development all her life.”

At the SERDEF, where she was also active in the Research and Information Committee, Ms. Pascual conceptualized and managed or co-managed entrepreneurship training and other development projects.

Her last project with SERDEF was the Entrepreneurship: Study and Practice textbook, where she served as editor.

She worked as training and extension specialist at the U.P. Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI) for about 40 years before her retirement in 2012. At the ISSI, she held various positions, including administrative officer and chair of the SPAN department.

She was also a certified CEFE – a German-based entrepreneurship movement – trainer.  As such, she travelled to several countries to spread the CEFE’s “competency-based economies through the formation of enterprise” advocacy.

Her remains lie in state at the Loyola Funeral Homes in Guadalupe, Makati City and will be cremated on December 31.

On December 30, the SERDEF will hold necrological services for the departed Trustee.
