Pinoys mark MSME Month; urged to ‘Go Lokal’

As the nation celebrates Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Month this month of July, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) issued a call for nationwide support for products that are Philippine-made, particularly those by small enterprises, as a way of helping the economy recover from the corona virus pandemic.

A highlight of the MSME Month celebration is the recent launch of the “Buy Lokal, Go Lokal” campaign by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez said that the campaign is expected to boost demand for local produce and manufactures, particularly those by small enterprises.

“Tayo po ay dito muna sa ating bayan mag shop local, eat local and travel local,” Secretary Lopez said in a virtual press briefing.

This kind of support will help restore business confidence and protect local employment — crucial in the light of growing unemployment caused by the viral outbreak, Lopez added.
