All it takes is ten minutes to secure a business permit in Cebu City Hall upon presentation of all requisite requirements.
To renew a business permit, the documents needed are: a fully-accomplished business permit application form, the applicant’s income statements for 2012 and 2013 and the company’s 2013 ledger print out.
New business registrants, on the other hand, are required to present an application form, a barangay clearance and a sketch plan of their business location.
Business permit applicants are required to submit 13 documentary requisites in all, but submission of three of these requirements is enough for the issuance of a business permit, according to Cebu City Treasurer Diwa Cuevas.
Other requirements, such as the sanitary permit and fire inspection certificate especially for new applicants, may be filed on or before the city treasurer’s office conducts a validation of businesses on April 20./Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
The simplified business registration procedure is being implemented as a part of the city government’s program to improve the business climate and encourage new business startups.
A one-stop shop at SM City’s Trade Hall is planned to be set up from January 6 to 24 to service more applicants so they don’t have to go to City Hall.
Those who fail to file their permit application at the end of January will be charged 2 percent interest per month of delinquency and another 25 percent surcharge and penalties.
Cebu City has about 30,000 registered businesses.
