Aspiring entrepreneurs seeking a business niche may find what they are looking for in handmade organic soap making, with the emergence of a high demand for organic, skin and environment-friendly personal grooming products.

A one-day training program of soap making using herbs, fruits, vegetables, flowers and other natural ingredients, will be conducted at the College of Social Work and Community Development, Magsaysay Avenue corner Ylanan Street, UP Diliman Campus Quezon City on July 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A program of the Golden Treasure Skills and Development Center, the seminar will basically be hands-on training on making oats soap, green papaya soap, kalamansi with gluta soap, transparent soap with Vitamin E, transparent soap with different colors and designs derived from vegetable extract, layered and embedded glycerine soap with petals of flowers and dried fruits, herbs, and many more.

There will be bonus demonstrations on how to make soap scrub with chocolate, pumice and loofah; how to produce body wash, bubble bath, massage cream, bath salt, massage oil, and oil for aromatherapy;  as well as to how make dog shampoo.

The seminar will also cover critical aspects business aspects like sourcing of materials, costing, and marketing strategies.

Consumers nowadays are increasingly wary of the toxic substances commonly used in commercial soap, like tricolosan.  Moreover, synthetic fragrances may trigger respiratory disorders, hormonal disruption and skin disease.  Thus, organic products have emerged to be the healthier option.
