SERDEF mentors Esquire business model tilt finalists

mentoring aelSERDEF hosted mentoring sessions with the finalists of Esquire Philippines’ business model competition called “Fueling the Dream,” last Monday, December 1.

SERDEF members and SME development experts, Dr. Herminia R. Fajardo, Ms. Serenidad F. Lavador, Ms. Arlene Liberal, and Ms. Celia Pascual were on hand to mentor the ten groups from different schools who were shortlisted.

The finalists are the following:

  • Be Hearty – a business model for processing banana into flour.
  • T.W.O. (Tarp Water Lily Originals) – a business that aims to make tarps out of water lily fiber.
  •  Studium –  a study center for college students
  • Explore PH – a mobile application that will promote the various tourist attractions of the country.
  • Organic Pantry – a restaurant business plan offering the cheapest, freshest and healthiest organic products.
  • Durancinth – an innovative natural fiber-polymer hydrogel wound-care product.
  • Buhay ko – an affordable housing solution made from environmentally friendly coconut fiber sheets reinforced with resin.
  • JUANted Manpower Agency – a proposal for a manpower agency which provides immediate hiring services and opportunities for the under privileged within the community of Baseco and Tondo.
  • Veggie Spread–   a business plan for making sandwich spread from locally-sourced vegetables.

The mentoring sessions were conducted to prepare the finalists for the final judging to be held this Saturday, December 6,

As event co-sponsor, SERDEF helped promote the competition and is giving  support in terms of mentoring and coaching.  It will also get involved in the final judging.
