13 schools participate in SERDEF TREE program

The 2nd in a series of the Training for Entrepreneurship Educators (TREE) was conducted by the SERDEF last November 17-18 with 23 participants from 13 schools in Metro Manila, Visayas, and Southern and Northern Luzon.

 

TREE is an entrepreneurship faculty development program designed to orient teachers and trainers in schools and non-formal training institutions to the latest in teaching modalities and technologies in the light of the changing economic landscape.

 

Some of the topics covered are history of entrepreneurship, role of entrepreneurship in economic development, risks and rewards of being in business, ethics in business, global trends in entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurship in the K-12 curriculum, and others.

 

Most of the second day was devoted to a hands-on, critiqued workshop on learning module preparation, followed by micro-teaching exercises facilitated by Dr. Paz H. Diaz, experienced entrepreneurship trainer and secretary of the SERDEF Board of Trustees.

 

Other resource persons were Dr. Victoria Villa of Natasha fame, Professor Malou Gatchalian of Miriam College, . Rene Resurreccion of Passion for Perfection,  Ernesto Bravo of Saint Martin Pharmaceutical, and Mei Kok and Mariana Silva of the Asian Development Bank Youth for Global Goals.

 

The TREE program has been endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education.

Lavador, SERDEF Trustee; Gloria Canela, SERDEF Admin and Finance Officer; and Arlene E. Liberal, SERDEF Trustee.
