Serdef Trustee discusses ‘Global Entrepreneurship and education’ at GEW Summit

Dr. Eduardo Q. Canela, SERDEF Trustee, was the guest speaker on the theme “Global Entrepreneurship and Education” during the “Global Entrepreneurship Week Summit (GEW) 2019” held last November 23 at the Far Eastern University in Manila.

The Summit is a joint project of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), Young Entrepreneurship Society Philippines (YES!PH), and the Far Eastern University Manila.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is billed as a celebration of “innovators who dream big and launch startups that bring ideas to life.”  It is celebrated worldwide through local, national and international activities—from large-scale startup competitions and workshops to sall, community discussions.

Participants in all these activities, big and small, are then connected to the Global Entrepreneurhsip (GEN) Network, by which deep cross-border collaboration of initiatives between and among entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymaker and entrepreneurial support organizations is fostered.

Dr. Canela tackled GEW Education in its role of informing and exposing people of all ages to entrepreneurship.

In his presentation, Dr. Canela described how entrepeneurship education and practice is expected to change as business and society are transformed by digital technology.

Specifically, digital technology will transform existing businesses in the following aspects: creating new ventures; promoting products and services; finding new customers and markets,  generating revenue and reducing costs, collaboration and competition, and identifying new opportunities.

Dr. Canela is an international trainer-consultant in entrepreneurship development, organizational development and data engineering.
